Norman's Days
I
Norman walks along and wonders,
the formation of connection between two souls;
between their vulnerable hearts.
He shakes his head,
in amazement of its occurrence,
for it exists without any hard reasoning or logical facts.
II
Norman sits and stares at the wide lake ahead,
his thought drifts to the trust one must have,
to put their fragile hearts,
the essence of their emotional well-being,
into another’s hand;
the belief that,
the other’s intention is true.
III
Norman picks up a flower and looks at its petals,
their beautiful tenderness is like how hearts are.
With a sudden burst of frustration,
he plucks off a petal.
Knows how hurtful it must be,
to have someone you thought is genuine and real,
reveal their ugly intentions beneath.
IV
Norman sits alone in a cafe and drinks,
looking around at his fellow descendants of Adam and Eve.
He wonders how many have had their hearts broken,
and how many more to trust,
until one will no longer be betrayed again.
The question of the pure at heart,
and how willing one will still be,
to let go, love and be loved again.
Tiffany Tham is a book addict and an aspiring poet/writer. An introvert, she writes so she doesn't have to speak her mind out loud. Started writing at the age of 12 and have never stopped ever since, thanks to the influence of J.K Rowling, Lang Leav, Robert Frost, Mitch Albom, Cassandra Clare and Haruki Murakami. She is currently an undergraduate student at the University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus.
